tinkering with... cobbles!

Something have wanted to try for a while. Most of you will have seen the gun crew bases I do with removable crew bases, so decided to push the envelope and try with an urban 88mm.  I made the usual base up from war bases , applied the ployfilla substrate and then attempted magic sculpt rolled over the top! Big disaster, putty wouldn’t adhere doh!
The cobbles are defined using the putty rollers from green stuff world, bought two a while ago 15mm and 28mm, first chance to use in anger.

So rescued the epoxy and rerolled on the desk, with loads of talc!

Pre placing of crew just for fun! The Barn door is the Heer 46 one, unfortunately the barrel is so over scale I will have to replace, be fine if I was using Orcs or something!

Next step to transfer and  glue to the base when dry. Then it’s a case of a bit of fettling  to recover the recessed and make the positive base blanks for the crew.

Crew in place, not looking too bad

Ta da! Crew pinned on 20mm rounds for casualty removal, now for the spares box for the usual gun paraphernalia !
This needs to sit for a bit, have some T34’s and a Churchill SBG calling, although it’s now paved the way for my tram barricade....

15mm - Panzer46 - Katchen Zug - Forged in Battle

Interestingly little bunch.... heavily modified Forged in Battle "Katchen" APC's.  These sport a "46" camo scheme used on some earlier work, I'm getting quite fond of the late war green base coat, nice change from dunkelgelb.

I've mod'd this one into a command vehicle, extra radio sets, aerials, stowage and tarps/zeltbahn ( and yes I know the zelt scheme isn't authentic, it is '46 license!)

Mixture of figures used, mainly Battlefront but also some Peter Pig. As you can seen the belt sander has been used to remove those awful FiB bases,

I'm not sure the origins of this turret, it came additional with some other vehicles, so I added it to the set, I'm sure its of sc-fi origins but actually looks quite in place.

I made up a "objective" base, in all honesty in response to an oversight with the belt sander! So now its bogged down APC with the crew frantically trying to extract it, hopefully I've managed the figure flow so it looks as if they are responding to each other, always key to a successful vignette.

I have a clockgoblin german walker coming through, almost done but just not enough to catch this photo call, and a larger commission of some more Heer46 beauties with some interesting camo, which I think you'll like! watch this space.

As always more picture up on my flickr:

and again, need the shelf space so POA or offers to the usual address.

15mm USA Walkers - Clockwork Goblin

Two USA Walker Mech's! finally finished.....

I'm still on a 15mm "What-if" roll, this time with some modified Clockworkgoblin US Mech "Walkers"
These are lovely two piece casts, and so open to modifying. Ive only done minor mods with some subtle stowage and converted crew figures ( peter pig and skytrex)

This is Ursus support walker, I think the "stars and stripes" add a nice touch, these are repurposed 28mm paratrooper decals.

I've used micro magnets to hold the body and leg sections together, this has the added advantage of being able to traverse the body slightly.
As always, loads more picture up in the usual place on flickr:

15mm "1946" American Heavies and Super Heavies - Khurasan & Heer46 [SALE]

More wonderfull "what-if" 1946+, this time a little more grounded in realism. This little lot is the T34 (conjectural M34 "Taylor") for Khurasan and the super heavy T28 from Heer 46. I've used primarily Peter Pig crew figs, although there's a converted skytrex 30 cal gunner with a headswap in there somewhere. I've also added odd stowage and tarps ect to add some character.

I'm superly impressed with this bunch, the allied green has came out just as envisaged, with a level of weathering appropriate and in context. These ( along with some super detailed Pershings) are FOR SALE, I've had my fun, and i'm really pleased with the result.

So POA -
neil"at"troop-of-shewe.co.uk ( you'll need to change the "at")

I've mod'd the gunner on the T28 and added so super fine aerial tie-downs ( from ship rigging material)

Two M34/T34's and one T28, both M34/T34's all three have crew.

I've rendered the images "full fat" here, to show the detail, remember these are 15mm so at this level the odd bit of sprurious fluff and cat fur can creep in !

I think this shot (above) is my favourite, all the techniques have came together and it just "works"
Subtle stowage can add character but still be unobtrusive.
Last shot of all three. As always there are more pictures in my flickr portfolio, best get a cup of coffee and set to slideshow......

15mm Heer46/Luftwaffe46 - Grav Tanks (Ravenstar Studios)

Interesting use of sc-fi genre here, all down to the customer, inspired!  Here we have three Ravenstar Studio Mercury class fast grav tanks, repurposed in a Heer46 or is it Luftwaffe46? "What-if" role.

I've tried to emulate a combination of the Luftwaffe splinter and mottle edged camouflage style with some light chipping through to aluminium.

All three are on detachable home made bases, 5mm clear acrylic rod on pre-cut MDF bases, so they raise the sculpts about 11/2 inches off the ground.

15mm E-50 Section (Heer46)

Back to Heer46 this morning. Two E-50's with some minor mods, and yes the obligatory "red oxide" panel so often loved of the Paper Panzer Brigade, I may do some more un-primed panels on some Panther II's, but lets see.

A reminder you can subscribe to email alerts, I don't think I post enough to be considered spam! anyway, link to the right -------->>>

15mm E-100 Twin 88mm Turret (Forged in Battle)

One of my favourites of this first batch, this is the Forged in Battle (FIB) E-100 with twin 8.8cm turret. Again no major mods from me, apart from belt sanding off the integral base, just paint after that!

15mm E-75 (Heer46)

More paper panzer goodness from heer46, this time two E-75. Only minor mods from me, have removed the tracks guards on both as I prefer the look, also removed all fixings from the chassis on one to make some clean sides.
